Who can join?

Movement communities are for those of you who want to be more active but have difficulty exercising or moving alone. Maybe you miss someone to accompany you on a walk, need extra security when participating in a group, or maybe you just want to share the joy of movement with others.

What is it about?

The movement communities are organized by 2 to 4 volunteers. Each team consists of 6 to 8 people. The most important thing is not your physical fitness or knowledge of movement, but the desire to become part of a community where you move together.

In Movement Communities we currently offer walking classes, swimming classes, dance joy and mindfulness. We would like to start more classes, and are therefore curious about your wishes for new movement communities.

Do you miss relationships and social interaction, and would you like to get more movement into your everyday life?

Read more and apply to become part of a movement community here.

Before registering, it is important to familiarize yourself with some of the frameworks for the activity:

  • If you have dementia, active substance abuse, outgoing behavior or a developmental disability, we refer you to associations and/or services that aim to work with these areas.
  • You must live in one of the following municipalities to become part of a Visitor's Club: Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, Dragør or Tower city.
  • It is important that you are at a place in your life where you have the energy to meet and get to know new people, so that together you can create a great community.

  • After registering, you will be invited to an interview with one of our volunteers. This interview will take place at our secretariat at Nørrebro, Nordre Fasanvej 224, 2nd floor, and is used to get to know you better so that we can ensure a good start. You must therefore be able to show up at the secretariat.

You can expect to meet some movement friends who want to get to know you. The volunteers are people of all ages with different backgrounds. They will be the same volunteers that you meet with. You will therefore have ample opportunity to get to know each other well and build a safe community.

Click on 'BECOME PART OF A MOVEMENT COMMUNITY' below and fill out the form, and we will contact you for further discussion about becoming part of a movement community.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

the outside world

Do you want to volunteer and exercise in a community with other people?

Read more and sign up as a volunteer below.

As a volunteer in a movement community, you can expect to become an important part of a supportive and inclusive environment, where you help create a safe environment for participants who experience mental vulnerability. For many of the participants, the meeting will be one of the highlights of the week

As a volunteer, you will become a facilitator and leader for a Movement Community. You will be matched with other volunteers and participants based on common interests, wishes and needs. After that, contact between the volunteers and participants is handled independently.

As a volunteer in a Movement Community for the Mentally Vulnerable, it is important that you meet the participants with openness and patience. You must have the courage to move and be ready to participate actively in the community. Your primary role will be to help create a positive and inclusive environment. It is expected that you can participate every other week or dedicate a minimum of 4 hours a month as a volunteer.

Click BECOME A VOLUNTEER below and fill out the form, and we will contact you for further discussion about starting as a volunteer in a movement community.
