Café Thor
A community for those of you who are residents of or associated with the E-huset residence in Thorsgade.
FIND YOUR WAY TO CAFÉ THORCafé Thor is for residents of the E-huset housing complex in Thorsgade. Here, a volunteer group meets every Monday for a few pleasant hours with the residents, where the community focuses on good stories, togetherness and a big smile on their face.
Through a meaningful community, Café Thor aims to help with the loneliness and social isolation residents experience in their everyday lives.
The purpose is not to provide treatment or therapy, but to create togetherness between people.
Would you like to volunteer at Café Thor?
As a volunteer at Café Thor, you make a difference for the residents of E-huset, who have an active alcohol consumption. Most of the residents are men in the age group of 50-70. After a long life marked by alcohol, many of them have worn out their networks and lost their social relationships earlier in life.
At Café Thor, as a volunteer, you become part of a community where the focus is on residents of the E-house being able to participate without obligation, to the extent they can accommodate on the day.
What do we expect of you?
As a volunteer at Café Thor, you must be open, robust, stable and have a good mood. It is an advantage to be professionally interested, or simply interested in people living with alcohol abuse, but it does not require any special education.
You start with a conversation where you hear more about the activity and the target group, and you get the opportunity to tell more about who you are.
You will be prepared for the role with an introductory course, supervision, competency courses and sparring.
Where and when should you help?
Café Thor take placer every Monday from 16-18 pm in fine premises in the E-house at Thorsgade in Nørrebro. We expect that you can participate at least twice a month.
