Red Cross Capital

The Red Cross Hostel for Women is an independent institution with an operating agreement with the Social Enterprise, Capital Region of Denmark.

The hostel is operated in accordance with Section 110 of the Service Act. The hostel has 27 overnight beds – 8 of which are for young people aged 18-30.

There is no requirement for a visitation or referral from the municipality to get a place at the hostel. You can contact us yourself by calling us and inquiring about a vacant place.

If there are available places, you will be invited to a visitation interview to clarify whether you are in the target group for the hostel.

Tales from the Hostel

“I was kicked out of my home. First I was kicked out of my mother's house and then my father's house. I had to make it from there myself. I had no contact with them and slept in all sorts of places.”

– The beginning of a story from a young woman who has lived at the Red Cross Hostel for Women.

Listen to her story as well as stories from other women who have stayed at the hostel below.

DO YOU WANT TO VOLUNTEER AT THE HOSTEL?

As a volunteer, your most important task is to provide care and social interaction to women in a vulnerable position. You will also collaborate with the permanent staff on practical tasks, for example, in connection with dinner and cleaning.

There is also the opportunity to help support various activities such as knitting café, gardening and yoga. If there is something in particular you are passionate about and would like to get started, we are also very open to that.

We expect you to take a minimum of two shifts per month, and you commit to a minimum of six months. It is possible to take shifts on weekdays from 15:45 PM to 20 PM and on weekends from 10 AM to 14 PM and 16 PM to 20 PM.

NOTE! You must be at least 24 years old to become a volunteer at the Red Cross Hostel for Women. It is a requirement that a private criminal record certificate is obtained before you start. You can obtain your private criminal record certificate yourself on the police website. The certificate is free and you typically receive it the same day in your digital mailbox.
