Do you want to create food experiences for vulnerable families?
This summer, in week 30, the family camp 'Oasen' will be running. We are currently looking for a volunteer kitchen manager to lead a team of volunteers who will prepare the meals that bring the camp together for coziness, good food and new taste experiences.
Become a volunteer nowFamily camp in the Red Cross Capital
This summer we will be holding two family camps for the vulnerable families we work with and for at Red Cross Hovedstaden.
The basic idea of the family camp is to strengthen the family network, give them positive experiences together and to create a space of peace, security and community. Everyone should leave with an experience of having been on holiday, and have something to talk about after the summer holidays. Something that many of the children do not otherwise have.
Meals at the camp are an important part of the unity and community, and therefore we are looking for a volunteer kitchen manager who will be in charge of the meals at the camp.
We expect to have 15 families at each camp. The camp takes place over 5 days in week 30 in South Zealand at a secondary school right by the sea.
You will be part of a volunteer team with approximately 12-14 other volunteers, of which approximately 5 will be on the kitchen team, which you will lead.
Why become a volunteer kitchen manager at Oasen?
- You will help create unforgettable dining experiences for families who need a much-needed break from everyday life.
- You can give children and families in vulnerable positions new food experiences, which may motivate them to think about meals in a new way in everyday life.
- You will be leading a kitchen team of other volunteers, where DJ duties take turns and spirits are high. You will be involved in hiring the volunteers yourself.
- You are guaranteed to sleep well the week after camp 😉
What are your roles and responsibilities as a volunteer kitchen manager?
- To keep an overview of the meals, planning and recipes.
- To create excitement, curiosity and joy by making good dishes together with the team of volunteers.
- To lead the team of kitchen volunteers and ensure that they have a good time at the camp.
- To be responsible for making a meal plan and shopping for the necessary things (We usually do this via Nemlig.com)
- To create a framework, space and opportunity for children and parents to help in the kitchen.
We are looking for you who…
- Passionate about cooking for many people and using the meal as a gathering point for positive experiences.
- Has a good overview and is good at coordinating and planning.
- Is patient and has an understanding of different food cultures.
- Maybe have experience cooking for many people (not a requirement, but a plus).
What is expected?
- You can schedule a few meetings during the spring to meet with the other volunteers and put together a plan.
- You can participate in the Family Camp for 5-6 days in week 30 of 2026.
- If you do not already have a food hygiene course, we will pay for you to take one. It is taken online and takes approximately 3 hours.
