Create community. Get people together.

Do you want to make a difference and help bring people together? Here you can read about the role of volunteer leader and how you can become an important part of our communities. Fill out the form on this page and we will contact you.

As a volunteer leader in the Danish Red Cross, you can get involved in a number of communities for seniors, families and adults who are in vulnerable situations.

The communities each have their own form and content, but common to them all is the desire to create a place where people meet, experience presence and do something meaningful together.

Your tasks as a volunteer leader may vary depending on the community, but the common denominator is that you help take responsibility, set things in motion, and create a safe environment for both participants and volunteers.

Below you can read more about what the leadership role typically entails.

What do you do as a leader?

2092390681

  • You create a safe and clear framework and ensure that everyone feels welcome and can find their place in the community. This can be anything from focusing on the warm welcome as a host, engaging in conversations with new volunteers and participants to making sure there is always coffee on the pot and a cozy atmosphere.

  • You plan, coordinate and initiate activities – for example by holding meetings where you and volunteers spar, make decisions and develop the community.

  • You create culture and take the lead in shaping a community characterized by inclusiveness, helpfulness and commitment, where everyone is seen and appreciated.

Who are you?

Become a volunteer leader
  • You are proactive and have a natural ability to take responsibility when something needs to be started and ideas need to be turned into action.

  • You are good at collaborating and thrive on creating an overview and making joint tasks successful.

  • You want to be part of the community – not only as a planner, but also as someone who actively participates and helps create a good atmosphere.

  • You have an eye for other people and are motivated by creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and can contribute on their own terms.

  • You have the time and energy to get involved – both in the community and in what is happening around you: meetings, coordination and collaboration with other volunteers.
