Are you passionate about making a difference for senior citizens in nursing homes?

Then we are looking for you as a nursing home friend! Currently, there are a lot of nursing homes in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg that are ready to open their doors to volunteers who can create meaningful activities and experiences together with the nursing home residents.

What does a nursing home friend do?

As a nursing home friend, you come every week or every other week and create coziness and togetherness with the residents. The activities can be, for example, doing activities from the "Hyggevognen" (Cozy Car) or helping at the counter, reading aloud or something completely different. The most important thing is that you want to contribute to creating a very cozy atmosphere and as a nursing home friend, the possibilities are many, and you can put your own stamp on what you want to contribute. So if you have a special talent or an idea for an activity with the residents, or a specific day of the week when you have the time and energy to contribute, do not hesitate to contact us. The most important thing is that you want to create community, togetherness and presence for senior citizens.

We are looking for you there:

• Have the opportunity to come regularly every or every other week for about 1 hour in the nursing home's common rooms and create meaningful activities and socializing
• Passionate about making a difference through meaningful efforts that aim to reduce loneliness among senior citizens, many of whom live with dementia
• There is a desire to be associated with a place that you get to know and create a strong sense of belonging to – both with relationships with the staff and the residents
• Strong in relationships and good at communicating with many different people
• Would you like to help develop an effort in the Red Cross and contribute your experiences so that we can become even better at creating good collaborations with nursing homes for the benefit of the residents?

As a nursing home friend, you will:

• Become part of a team of nursing home friends who meet to exchange experiences and sparring
• You will have the opportunity for personal and professional development, courses and networking
• You will become part of the Red Cross' largest local branch in Denmark, and through this you will gain experience working in a large NGO.
