"For me, it made sense to become a movement friend because it was a way to combine two things that I believe in – I'm happy to use my body myself, and I want to help create mental health as well. It's important to contribute to the well-being of others around me, and that's why it seemed obvious to sign up," says Linda, who works with resource management.

Always come home with positive energy

Linda believes that we as a society need to focus more on mental health and how relationships and movement can help improve the lives of people who are struggling.

“That’s why it was exactly Bevejgelsesvenner that appealed to me. I’ve also been very surprised by how happy I am with our relationship. We meet on equal terms and do different things together – free dancing at Absalon, bike rides to the forgotten giants and much more. We have so much fun together, and after I’ve been with my movement friend, I always have positive energy,” she says.

Thorough match process and suggestions for getting off to a good start

When Linda signed up to volunteer, she was invited to an interview with the volunteer activity manager at the Red Cross Capital to discuss her interests and expectations. The activity manager then selected a potential exercise buddy based on conversations with both parties.

"I really recommend being a movement friend. It's very easy, and you get so much in return. You help shape the relationship yourself, and there's plenty of inspiration for movement activities ready, so it's easy to get started," says Linda.

“You get more energy from exercise - quite ironic”
