Nursing home friend
Our nursing home friends are volunteers who are present at a number of nursing homes in the Capital. Here they contribute to making life in nursing homes and senior housing meaningful and community-oriented.
Nursing home friends are volunteers who are associated with nursing homes and senior citizens' homes and can contribute to filling life in the nursing home with cosiness and presence. The volunteers can, for example, read aloud, take the residents on trips, arrange creative activities or simply be there for a pleasant get-together.

A Nursing Home Friend is a committed volunteer who contributes to the residents' well-being and community. The volunteers can, for example, read aloud, take the residents on trips, arrange creative activities or simply be there for a nice social gathering.
We ensure that the volunteers are well-equipped for the task and match them with nursing homes where both staff and residents want to involve volunteers in everyday life. A Nursing Home Friend is a supplement to the daily care and attention - an extra resource that creates presence, life and joy for the residents.
In close collaboration with nursing homes and activity centers, the volunteer can – based on his or her own interests – either start a new activity or support an existing one. In this way, the volunteer nursing home friends can create joy and community for the residents.
If you, as an employee at a nursing home, activity center or similar, would like to hear more about the possibilities of having a Nursing Home Friend attached, please contact us at rkh.seniorsamarbejde@rodekors.dk
BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Would you like to become a volunteer nursing home friend?
If you want to make a positive difference for older people living in nursing homes or senior housing, then you might be our new volunteer nursing home friend.
Read more and register as a volunteer here.
To become a volunteer, you must have the time and desire to
visit the same nursing home every week or every other week. We also expect you to participate in the courses and experience exchange meetings that we hold in Nursing Home Friend (2-3 per year).
As a volunteer Nursing Home Friend, you must come with a good mood and good energy and contribute to good and pleasant experiences on the residents' terms.
Since it is important to get to know the place - both the staff and the residents - as a volunteer caregiver, you must be able to come regularly either every or every other week for between 2-3 hours each time.
As a nursing home friend, you will be connected to a nursing home or senior living area, where you will be assigned either every week or every other week.
Together with the staff and residents, you find out what makes sense to do; you can play cards, read aloud, have lunch, go for a walk or something completely different.
fifth.
You will be well-prepared for the role of a nursing home friend through an introductory course at the Danish Red Cross. You will also become part of an experience-sharing environment with other nursing home volunteers.
Press the “BECOME A VOLUNTEER” button below and fill out the form and we will contact you.
