The Danish Red Cross has a new secretary general.
The choice has fallen on our current program manager for social initiatives, Lone Buchardt, who will officially take office on April 1st.
We are very pleased to announce that we have now completed the recruitment process and have found a new head of secretariat for the Danish Red Cross Capital. More than 80 people applied for the position, and we are proud that so many see RKH as an attractive place to work. The choice has fallen on our current program manager for social initiatives, Lone Buchardt.
It was a unanimous hiring committee that pointed to Lone as the new head of secretariat.
The chairman of the board, Mathias Mølsted Andersen, justifies the choice as follows: "Overall, Lone was the best of all the over 80 applicants who expressed their interest in the position. Lone has been chosen because she is ideally placed to build on the great work and practice that is so well underway in the Red Cross Capital. At the same time, we also believe that Lone will be able to lead us in new and exciting directions. We know Lone from several years of collaboration and know that she has the skills to lead the Red Cross Capital Secretariat into a future that is in many ways both exciting and challenging."
Lone is looking forward to her new role and says: "I am pleased with the trust the board and the hiring committee have shown me. We in civil society are faced with important tasks of stepping up and in the Capital Red Cross to continue to be prepared as a local emergency response actor, and I am therefore looking forward to continuing our good cooperation with municipalities, the national office and other local partners in my new role. With experience from both the social area, from the Capital Red Cross of course, and other social organizations such as Save the Children and the Consumer Council Think, and with a commercial background in marketing and sales, I look forward to bringing both into play to develop the entire organization together with the board and employees, so that together we can make an even greater difference for vulnerable people in the Capital."
Lone will start as head of secretariat on April 1.
Many thanks to the outgoing secretary
Lone takes over from our current head of secretariat, Pernille Scheel, who has been part of the Red Cross for over 26 years and has chosen to step down.
The chairman of the board of the Red Cross Capital, Mathias Mølsted Andersen, thanks Pernille for her tireless efforts in the Red Cross Capital over the many years: "Pernille has been a driving and unifying force for the Red Cross Capital for many years. You can't say Red Cross Capital without mentioning Pernille Scheel. I have had the pleasure of working closely with Pernille for the past 10 years as a board member and then chairman. And what I think characterizes Pernille's work is her great commitment, knowledge of our local conditions, infectious humor, and the will, ability and skill to take the Red Cross Capital to new places. We will miss Pernille's person. I wish her all the best with her future plans."
