Together we help more people in Copenhagen.
As a member, you help support our efforts, which help over 13.000 people in the Capital every year. Our members are crucial to keeping our local activities open. Without members, there is no Red Cross in Copenhagen.

People reached through our efforts in the Capital
2.152
seniors with limited networks
Seniors can, among other things, get a pen pal, go on an excursion with the tour service or receive a security call every day.
2.237
who have been exposed to trauma
People who have experienced trauma have received support because the Red Cross is present with Samaritans. At the same time, the volunteers in the Victim Advice Service are ready to listen and help victims, witnesses and relatives of crime and accidents.
1.806
adults in need of support
Former drug users and women exposed to violence in close relationships are among those we help. Our two network houses are open to anyone who wants to be part of a meaningful community, and our food distribution service provides a helping hand to financially needy citizens.
5.484
from vulnerable families get a network
People from vulnerable families have participated in the Family Network, where they meet other families. The family can also have a volunteer family friend who comes to the home and provides care and support. Last year, we were also able to distribute Christmas aid to a record number of people!
298
homeless
Homeless people have been helped as we run a shelter for women with special social problems who do not have their own home or cannot stay in their current home. We also have a care center for homeless people who need to recover from hospitalization.
7.627
learned first aid
The Red Cross works to ensure that everyone can provide first aid. That's why we hold a wide range of different courses for individuals and companies.
445
people living with mental vulnerability
People with mental vulnerabilities have participated in our efforts, where our volunteers make a big difference in communities and one-to-one relationships. They form the framework for the development of equal relationships and meaningful communities, and break with loneliness.
How a membership works
Being a member of the Red Cross Capital costs 250 DKK per year, equivalent to approx. 21 DKK per monthYour membership gives you the opportunity to use your vote to elect the board and influence how we prioritize our efforts both locally and nationally.
Part of your membership fee automatically goes to the Danish Red Cross if you have a postal code within the area. This way you support people and activities locally near you. As a member, you also become part of a strong community that makes a concrete difference for people in vulnerable situations.
The more members we have, the stronger we are.
This is what membership in the Red Cross means:
- The members are the democratic backbone of the Red Cross. That is why you have the right to vote and can elect your local board. In this way, you help influence the development of the Red Cross Capital.
- As a member, you are an important financial support. You help support the most vulnerable in Danish society, and you help send aid to the world's hotspots.
- If you would like to volunteer for management responsibilities, as a member you can also run for board positions and have a noticeable influence.
- Your personal membership costs DKK 250 per year. Or you can sign up your entire household for DKK 375 per year.
- Payment is made either via PBS or MobilePay (Subscription).
OUR ECONOMY
Our work is built on a foundation of local commitment from volunteers, members and partners. The majority of our income comes from sales in thrift stores (40%) and funds from foundations and pools (38%). The money is mainly spent on local social initiatives (50%), which make a direct difference to people in vulnerable situations in the capital area. In addition, some of the money goes to operating our sources of income, such as store costs (28%) and first aid courses (8%).
Our priority is always to ensure that as many funds as possible go to help where the need is greatest locally.
To ensure transparency, please read our annual report and accounts here.

OUR AMBITION
We are expanding our network
No one should be alone if they don't want to be. We create equal relationships and communities for everyone who wants to break free from isolation and loneliness.
We support people with mental vulnerability
Most of us experience psychological vulnerability at some point in our lives. We support the individual's ability to act and create awareness of their own resources.
We help with life transitions
Many people experience acute events, crises or other transitions in life where their own resources are not enough. We offer temporary accommodation, advice and help with bridge building to move forward.
Read portraits of our cool volunteers.
Red Cross Capital City volunteers make a huge difference to a wide range of people. We would like to focus on that. That's why we have made portraits of some of them, where they talk about their motivation and what it means. Meet Katja, who volunteers in Bevegelsesvenner, where she goes for walks with Sine, and how they have formed a very special friendship. Or read about Erik, who has helped form the Men's Club, where he helps create an active, safe and cozy community for men over 65, and what it means - both for him and the men who come and participate.
You can help make a local difference.
