TWO EVENTS FOCUSING ON VOLUNTEERING AND HEALTH
Health in senior life
Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 5:30 PM to 7 PM at the Library on Rentemestervej 76, 2400 Copenhagen NV.
Have you heard of the term “Healthspan”? It’s a concept designed for the futures seniors, describing how seniors can live longer with ailments and conditions that require prevention and rehabilitation.
The futurist Anne Skare Nielsen will entertainingly outline a life that could resemble one where you are sentenced to health and need discipline and assistance to exercise to stay well.
You can also meet Marie Lenstrup, chairperson of Pårørende I Danmark (the Relatives in Denmark association), who will discuss life as a caregiver, and Anne Marie Muxoll Schrøder, a volunteer in the Learn to Cope program, offering self-help courses for those with chronic illnesses or as caregivers.
Additionally, the program features Gitte Stentoft Serup, coordinator for Kræftens Bekæmpelses tilbud Navigator (the Cancer Society’s Navigator program), which provides support and guidance through your cancer journey.
Red Cross Copenhagen’s activity Seniorsamtaler focuses on existential conversations in senior life.
Volunteering in senior life
The event took place on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
How can civil society, in collaboration with the public sector, contribute to solving society’s major challenges related to well-being and loneliness?
Human engagement is crucial for the many activities of civil society. Can you see yourself as a volunteer in one of the many organizations, and what would it take for you to become a volunteer?
Among others, you can meet former Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, who is the initiator and co-founder of Det Sociale Netværk (The Social Network), which, through volunteer work, creates increased networks and communities for the mentally vulnerable.
You can also meet Ninna Thomsen, director of Mødrehjælpen, who will discuss the visions for volunteering at Mødrehjælpen.
Lastly, you can meet Anders Ladekarl, Secretary-General of the Danish Red Cross.
These three speakers will participate in a debate on volunteering, with room for questions and exchange of ideas.
