Bicycle training
Free bicycle training for adults who want to learn to ride a bike or become better at it.
OBS!
We, unfortunately, no longer offer bicycle training in Vanløse as we can no longer use our usual location.
The bicycle is an ideal mode of transportation when getting around Copenhagen. However, not many cultures share the same tradition of cycling as the Danish, and therefore, Red Cross Copenhagen offers bicycle training for adults who want to learn how to ride a bike or improve their skills. As a participant, your lessons will take place in a safe enclosed area before you venture out into traffic. You will also learn traffic rules and how to maintain a bike. There is, of course, time for cozy coffee breaks where you can exchange experiences.
The bicycle course is free, and we provide bicycles and helmets, so you just need to show up. Remember to wear practical clothing and shoes.
When is bicycle training offered?
The season for bicycle training is almost upon us again. The first lessons will take place on Amager Sunday, March 3, 11 AM – 1 PM and on Frederiksberg, Sunday February 19, 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Going forward the lessons will take place every Wednesday and Sunday at the same time slots.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER
As a volunteer, you will teach balance, maneuverability, bicycling in traffic, traffic rules and basic bicycle maintenance.
Bicyle training takes place from March to October with a break in the middle of summer. You will be assigned to a volunteer group in a specific area, so you show up at the same place each time, and you are welcome to sign up with a friend or family member.
WHAT DO WE EXPECT OF YOU?
The prerequisites for being a volunteer are that you can ride a bike, know the traffic rules, have an interest in communicating and have a good amount of patience. You do not need any specific professional background, but it is an advantage if you are pedagogically minded.
WHEN AND WHERE WOULD WE LIKE YOU TO HELP?
Bicycle training is free of charge and is offered at various locations, 2 hours each weekend. The lessons take place from March to October with a shortbreak during the summer holidays.
As a volunteer, you typically teach together with 4-5 other volunteer bicycle coaches.
