Røde Kors Hovedstaden

The bicycle is an ideal mode of transportation when getting around Copenhagen. However, not many cultures share the same tradition of cycling as the Danish, and therefore, Red Cross Copenhagen offers bicycle training for adults who want to learn how to ride a bike or improve their skills. As a participant, you will learn to cycle in a safe and closed area before venturing out into traffic. You will also learn traffic rules and how to maintain a bike. There is, of course, time for cozy coffee breaks where you can exchange experiences.

The bicycle course is free, and we provide bicycles and helmets, so you just need to show up. Remember to wear practical clothing and shoes.

WHEN?

The cycling training takes place in Amager on Sundays from 11 AM tto 1 PM, in Frederiksberg on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM and in Vanløse on Sundays from 10 AM to 12 PM.

You can see the address if you hold your mouse over the red box on the right.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

As a volunteer, you will teach balance, maneuverability, bicycling in traffic, traffic rules and basic bicycle maintenance.

Cycling training takes place from March to October with a break in the middle of summer. You will be assigned to a volunteer group in a specific area, so you show up at the same place each time, and you are welcome to sign up with a friend or family member.

WHAT ARE WE EXPECTING OF YOU?

The prerequisites for being a volunteer are that you can ride a bike, know the traffic rules, have an interest in communicating and have a good amount of patience. You do not need any specific professional background, but it is an advantage if you are pedagogically minded.

WHEN AND WHERE ARE YOU HELPING?

Bicycle training is free of charge and is offered at various locations, 2 hours each weekend. The training takes place from March to October with a shortbreak during the summer holidays.

As a volunteer, you typically teach together with 4-5 other volunteer cycling coaches.

Bicycle training is offered in Amager on Sunday at 11 AM – 1 PM, at Frederiksberg on Wednesday at 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM and in Vanløse on Sunday at 10 AM – 12 PM.
