FOOD DISTRIBUTION
The food distribution initiative is for those who have a hard time making ends meet and find it challenging to meet their grocery budget.
At Maduddelingen, you can collect free and healthy surplus produce such as fruits, vegetables, and bread. We have three different distribution locations, so you can collect your surplus produce in either Nørrebro or Kastrup.
Volunteers collect, pack, and distribute surplus produce donated from places and stores such as Grønttorvet, Netto and the bakeries Farumhus of The Bread Station.

Become a volunteer at Maduddelingen
You can help in several ways as a volunteer at Maduddelingen. You can assist with the distribution of the food and in the Coffee Lounge, or you can help as a driver.
Distribution and the Coffee Lounge
In the distribution, your tasks include greeting participants warmly and distribute the surplus produce. Beforehand, you will need to organize and get the items ready for pickup. When the items are picked up, there is also an opportunity to visit the food distributions Coffee Lounge. The volunteers there warmly welcome guests and ensure there is coffee and tea available.
The Coffee Lounge creates a cozy atmosphere. As a volunteer there, you should be open to chatting with the participants, be ready to listen, and help keep a nice atmosphere in the salon. you can talk about things like the food that’s been collected, share ideas on how to use it, and talk about other services provided by Red Cross Copenhagen or other organizations. The Coffe Lounge acts as a way to connect people to these services.
Driver
As a driver, you help pick up the items that will be distributed at Maduddelingen. The goods are collected from our donors, and the pickup times are typically between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM and between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. What do we expect from you?
As a volunteer at Maduddelingen, it’s important to be organized, ready to help out, and have a positive attitude. In Maduddelingen, you’ll interact with many participants and/or partners during the distribution’s opening hours.
