Nursing home friend
Red Cross Copenhagen is dedicated to helping those who need it the most and enriching the life within nursing homes and senior housing with a deeper meaning and a stronger sense of community.
Nursing home friends receive proper training to connect with a nursing home and take part in activities like group events, walks, socializing, and providing companionship.
A nursing home friend is matched with a nursing home or senior housing area. The volunteer will visit regularly, either every week or every other week. Alongside the staff and residents, nursing home friends come up with activities, such as playing cards, reading aloud, sharing a meal, going for a walk or something entirely different.
A nursing home friends receive an introductory course at Red Cross Copenhagen and become part of a knowledge-sharing environment with other nursing home volunteers.
DO YOU WANT A NURSING HOME FRIEND FOR YOUR NURSING HOME?
If you work at a nursing home, an activity center, or something similar, and you are interested in learning more about having a nursing home friend connected, please contact Development Consultant Sofie Neergaard at sofnee@rodekors.dk
At Red Cross Copenhagen we have been working with nursing homes for many years and participated in multiple activities. We bring these experiences together in the nursing home friends program, where we continue activities like our reminiscence groups ‘Tell for Life.’ We also train volunteers to lead reminiscence groups and conversations where people can share stories from their lives with others. If you want more information about ‘Tell for Life,’ you can read more here.
We currently do not accept English-speaking volunteers for this activities
