Digital Red Cross Agreement
Thank you for choosing to volunteer with the Red Cross Copenhagen. We look forward to welcoming you into our community.
Once you have signed this Red Cross agreement, you will gain access to our digital community Mit Røde Kors (mitroedekors.dk). We hope you will use it to participate in discussions, find information, and staying updated on news. As a volunteer, you are covered by the Red Cross insurance in case you are injured while performing volunteer work.
As a volunteer with the Red Cross, you work within the framework of the Red Cross Movement’s seven principles, as well as the purpose and statutes of the Red Cross.
Additionally, you are obligated to:
- manage the Red Cross’s financial resources and assets responsibly and conscientiously
- respect confidentiality and privacy, and not misuse information
- promote cooperation, community, and to contribute to an inclusive and open volunteer culture
- treat others with respect and refrain from acting or expressing yourself in ways that may be considered discriminatory, demeaning, or offensive
- not misuse your position as a Red Cross volunteer for personal gain – this includes refraining from accepting inheritance, gifts, or monetary donations from participants in any Red Cross activity
- act in the best interest of the Red Cross and its reputation in the public eye
Confidentiality
It is essential that the people we assist feel safe when they engage with the Red Cross. We ensure this by meeting people with openness and compassion, and by strictly adhering to confidentiality regarding sensitive matters. You are subject to the general duty to report if you become aware of neglect or similar issues during your volunteer work. Confidentiality does not override this duty to report.
Children must be protected
Children must be able to participate safely in Red Cross activities, and we make a special effort to protect them. We have developed child protection guidelines, which all volunteers are required to follow in their work. Volunteers involved in activities with children must complete an e-learning course called Child Protection, available at mitroedekors.dk/onlinekurser.
If you join an activity involving contact with children, the Red Cross is legally obligated to request a child protection certificate in accordance with Danish law. This is done automatically once the Red Cross agreement is completed.
Your information from the Red Cross agreement will be stored in the Red Cross volunteer database. If any of your personal information changes, please inform your activity leader or Red Cross contact person so we can update your details.
Data Protection Policy
We retain your data for up to three years after you stop volunteering. You can read more about how we process, store, and delete your data in our Privacy Policy for Volunteers and our general Data Protection Policy at mitroedekors.dk.
If you are to be an activity leader or a member of a board, it is important that you can be contacted by external parties. You will therefore be asked to decide which of your contact details the Red Cross may display on the website rodekors.dk.
Rights to participate in the general assembly with speaking rights
This Red Cross agreement grants you the right to attend the local branch’s general assembly with speaking rights. To obtain voting rights, you must be a member of the Red Cross.
Once again, thank you
Once again, welcome to the Red Cross. We hope you will enjoy being part of our organization, and we look forward to your contribution to our shared efforts.
