The mentorship program is a way to support homeless women at the Red Cross Women’s Shelter. These women are in vulnerable life situations and often lack a social support network to lean on. Volunteer mentors, spend one-on-one time with these women, offering company, practical assistance, and shared activities to help them get back on their feet.

The goal of the mentorship program at the Red Cross Women’s Shelter is to reduce feelings of loneliness and vulnerability among these women.

Volunteer mentors and women are matched based on common interests, desires for a relationship, and the need for help, among other factors.

Volunteer tasks can range from helping with everyday tasks, helping with money management, being there for important meetings with the municipality, doctors, or banks, helping with job applications, exercising, going sightseeing, or simply having a chat over a cup of coffee. You both decide what to do based on the woman’s needs and your own skills and resources.

We currently do not accept English-speaking volunteers for this activity
